What's your connection to Nottingham, and what do you love most about it?

I moved to Lincolnshire as a young teen and found escapism in jumping on a train to Nottingham. Hockley reminded me of Camden Town, which I was very fond of. Shops like Ice Nine, Void, SelectaDisc and various vintage shops were fun and exciting. As time went on, I discovered Rock City, Tap & Tumbler, Pit & Pendulum, the Sal, and an oldie – Templars!

What's your role at It's in Nottingham, and how did you get into it?

I moved to Nottingham after a brief stint in London as a floral designer. I worked at British Heart Foundation in the Broadmarsh with the legend Ali, aka Boss Lady, who is managing the latest store on Clumber Street – I recommend volunteering here if you’re after a ‘work-out’ that feels good for mind and body. There are always things to do!

I was ecstatic to then go on to open my own store for Sue Ryder on Goosgate in Hockley, specialising in vintage clothing, furniture, and everything between! I became a fan of It’s in Nottingham then – taking them up on every opportunity I could to promote the shop and Hockley.

When the opportunity came up to work with them, I jumped at the chance. I’ve been promoted to Sponsorship, Events & Project Manager and have a small but mighty team – taking on events and supporting others who promote Nottingham, through our sponsorships.

What's your favourite hidden gem in the city that visitors often overlook?

I will forever love Jamcafe – Bradley makes it – welcoming you with a hug and an exciting array of live music. For stocking up on gifts and cards – Handmade Nottingham, Tokenhouse, Debbie Bryan and Shop Zero.

Go vintage: Shop second-hand, reuse, re-wear and restyle – it's cool to be green!
